Laszlo Bossanyi presents the opening of Maximilians Austrian Hungarian Restaurant in the heart of the NOHO Art District. Chef Laszlo who had been a sous chef at Chasen’s does much more than cook his native Hungarian and European cuisine.

His first major career stop was at the Hotel Beke in Budapest, the next stop found him in the kitchens of the Lucerne Hotel in Switzerland. Later, the ambitious young chef turned up in the chef’s Mecca, Paris where he perfected his classic French cooking abilities at the Hotel Maurice.

MAXIMILIAN’S GARDEN

The cuisine of Central Europe has little exposure in Greater Los Angeles, but the new popularity of Austrian and Hungarian wines are making it a most attractive alternative to conventional dining. What we have is Maximilian’s Garden, a charming country house with a number of cozy rooms and tables, an abundance of flowers, and soft lighting, set in an elegant garden on a quiet North Hollywood street. If the setting were more romantic, it would be illegal. The food, we must tell you, is magical. Chef/owner Laszlo Bossanyi prepares wonderful fare from his native Hungary, which has a rich tradition of dishes such as libamai, or foie gras, its better known name, stuffed cabbage, Wiener schnitzel, and wonderfully crisp potato pancakes. Now, chef Laszlo is showcasing fine wines from Central Europe in his garden. He’s planning a gala Garden Party with complimentary dishes and wine in his garden, on Wednesday, March 30^th (from 5PM-9PM) an elegant candles and wine event featuring boutique wines from Austria such as Gruner Veltliner, Hungarian reds from Attila Gere. Small plates will accompany wines, that includes Hungarian cheese pate, Austrian ham, langos, or garlic rubbed potato fritter and several surprises. Hungary’s legendary Tokaji dessert wine will be the co-star with a selection of sumptuous pastries and coffee.If you can’t make the party, Saturday and Sunday Brunch is served in the garden every weekend, from 11am-3pm.
